Josh Reed

As Executive Vice President & Head of Acquisitions of Equity Investments, Josh Reed oversees the lower-tier acquisitions division of Merchants Capital’s Tax Credit Equity platform, including sourcing, structuring, and closing lower-tier, limited partnership investments in tax-advantaged multifamily housing projects. Since joining the firm in November 2020, the Tax Credit Equity platform has originated over $3 billion and closed nearly $3 billion in lower-tier equity with top industry developers in 30 states.

Prior to joining Merchants Capital, Mr. Reed consulted for tax credit developers on various aspects of sourcing and structuring low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) real estate projects. Mr. Reed spent 11 years at CREA, LLC, where he engaged in closing, underwriting, and structuring over $700 million in lower-tier equity acquisitions nationally. Preceding his acquisitions role at the firm, he managed the construction department that oversaw underwriting and construction monitoring for projects nationwide, including over $600 million in equity investments. Mr. Reed has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in Environmental Engineering from Rose-Hulman.
