Christopher Messmann

Mr. Messmann oversees the Asset Management, Fund Management and Risk Management teams. He approves all financial projections for both lower-tier and upper-tier investments and oversees post-closing investor relations. He joined Merchants Capital in June 2021 as Vice President of Tax and Risk Management.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Messmann served for 10 years as a Senior Vice President at a national tax credit equity syndicator in the Fund Management, Dispositions and Portfolio Management departments. He managed a $1 billion equity portfolio consisting of 17 funds, 60+ institutional investors and 175 operating partnerships. Mr. Messmann also modeled all property-level dispositions, property re-syndications and Investor Limited Partner interest sales and was responsible for portfolio revenue tracking, portfolio valuation and process improvements throughout the company. Previously, he served on the tax team at Dauby O’Connor & Zaleski, a premier LIHTC accounting firm. Mr. Messmann has a master’s degree in accountancy from Ball State University.
